The Story

Your new favourite t-shirt is waiting, and its name is Elif. Oversized and easy to wear, it features a round neckline and loose sleeves that fall to the elbow. Choose between a hip-length or extra-long version Finish the neckline with ribbing, or use your main fabric if it is stretchy enough.

Sewing level: beginner

Materials & supplies:

  • Thread
  • Fabric

Fabric recommendations:

Fabric type: Choose a knit or jersey, preferably with a nice, heavy drape such as single jersey, interlock, or modal jersey.

Fibre content: Cotton, bamboo, modal, or blends with up to 5% elastane for comfortable stretch.

Weight: Medium to slightly heavier (approx. 180-240 g/m3) - lighter fabrics may look too flimsy in an oversized design. Look for a soft, flowing fabric rather than a stiff one, to achieve a relaxed fit without a "tent effect." Use a (rib) knit trim for the neckline if the main fabric doesn't have enough stretch.

Finishing tip: A double-stitched hem or twin needle gives a professional look.
